Below, two different sets of schematics for mixing cocktails: the first is the "Engineer's Guide to Drinks" designed some time in the '80s; the second is a set of sleek infographics for mixing the perfect drink, from Brazilian illustrator Fabio Rex.
It's interesting to consider the differences in the production process between the two eras. Rex's beautifully executed infographics were likely made in Illustrator, while the vintage version is hand-drawn, blueprint style, akin to construction plans. In lieu of the limitless palette of vivid just-click-to-add Illustrator colors, the vintage diagram uses black and white only, plus a handy key of 42 different stripe and dot patterns to distinguish the ingredients.

i love good graphic design. this is awesome.
i love that they were forced to use black and white patterns instead of color to distinguish the different drinks. it's a map you have to navigate.
Excellent!!!
